Some customers have pointed out that during peak hours, particularly Friday evenings, the wait time can get quite long. It’s an unfortunate trade-off when serving such popular, high-quality food. Others have noted that the minimum card payment of £10 can be inconvenient for those looking to grab a quick snack. While the seating is casual and accessible, the ambiance may not suit those seeking more upscale dining experiences—this is a straightforward chip shop rather than a fancy restaurant. A few customers expressed a desire for a wider array of fish options, although the existing choices maintain high quality. The hustle and bustle, especially during peak times, might make conversations challenging, particularly for large groups.
Good affordable fish and chips. I much prefer going to somewhere more local than a big chain. The portions were massive and well worth the price. The staff were lovely, so glad there is such a nice chip shop nearby to me.
Proper old school chippy. Friendly staff Quality piece of fish and the chips were excellent. Batter good, teally enjoyed it. Will definitely be going back again
I used to live near this chippy when I was a student 30 years ago. Went back to reminisce... the Battered fish is as amazing as it was then. Little treasure.
Great takeaway! £1.90 for regular chips which is amazing and great portions! Chips were perfect to me - perfect chip shop chips. Drink cans £1.50 which is good and super cold!! £10 card minimum but you can get away with it if it is slightly less I think.
This is, without a doubt, the best chippy in the UK! The chips are cooked perfectly, all golden in colour and taste like proper chippy chips from back in the day. Outstanding customer service, excellent choices on the menu, and really well priced. I would highly recommend trying this amazing, delicious, and tasty chippy if you're working, living, or passing the area.
I used the battered cod recently for a wedding I was running, as the bride and groom wanted chip butties for the evening food. We were so impressed with the contact, service, price and taste of the food/ portion size. On entry into the shop (early) our order was already being packed up. The staff were so lovely and helpful, even offering extras whilst simultaneously giving a local homeless man something to eat. The chip butties were banging also! Everyone commented on how nice the chips were and the quality. I will definitely be using the battered cod for ANY of my wedding food, and for myself when I'm in the area 😉 thank you so much all there, 5 star service.
